MARS ROVER SNAPS PHOTO OF FILLED SAMPLE DEPOT

NASA's Perseverance rover has achieved a significant milestone by creating the first off-Earth sample depot on Mars. Over a five-week period starting on December 21, 2022, the rover built the depot on a patch of Martian soil known as Three Forks. The depot consists of 10 sealed titanium sample tubes, which may be brought back to Earth a decade from now as part of a joint NASA-European Space Agency campaign.

To celebrate this achievement, the car-sized rover captured a series of photographs on January 31. The team behind the mission has since compiled 368 of these images into a stunning panorama that showcases the precise location of all 10 sample tubes. This latest accomplishment marks a significant step forward in the exploration of Mars and the search for signs of life beyond Earth.
